The research team is mainly active in the Turbomachinery and Propulsion fields. In the past three decades, the group has acquired a considerable background in numerical and experimental techniques as applied to the design and analysis of fluid machinery and energy conversion systems. More recently, efforts have been addressed towards the analysis of small size pumps and compressors, and innovative propulsion systems.
Research and experience areas:

  • Experimental investigation of turbochargers under stable and unstable flow regimes
  • Turbulence modelling and CFD techniques
  • Experimental analysis of Internal Combustion Engines
  • Alternative fuel (biodiesel, LNG, mixed fuel)
  • Design and analysis of wind turbines and propellers
  • Multiple disks machinery
  • Positive displacement machinery (compressor and expander)
  • Electrical and hybrid vehicle propulsion
  • Combustion chambers
  • Design and optimization
  • Design of ICE for aeronautical application
