MArine HYdrodynamics group focuses on numerical and experimental research in Naval Architecture. Main activities are the design and the hydrodynamic optimization of high speed vehicles, special craft and naval ships. More in detail, group activities include novel hull forms, stability, resistance, propulsion, sea keeping, roll damping, wake wash, hydrodynamic loads and responses of ships and offshore structures. Recently researches on hydrodynamic loads acting on floating offshore structures and small size SWATH vessels are in progress. The Group strongly believes in synergy of Computational and Experimental marine hydrodynamics, the latter using the University Hydrodynamic Laboratory Towing tank (135m x 9m x 4.2m) fitted with wave maker and Qualisys optical motion tracking system. The results of research activities are published in international journals and relevant conferences. MAHY is engaged in consulting for Public Administrations (Italian Navy, Coast Guard), private companies and shipyards.
