The research group working in the Fraunhofer Joint Lab IDEAS addresses innovation of products and processes by developing new design methodologies and simulation tools. The "Interactive DEsign And Simulation" (IDEAS) JL has been established by Fraunhofer IWU - Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology in Chemnitz (D) and DII. The competences are in the following fields: Computer Graphics, Virtual Reality, Concept Design, Product Development, Quality and Reliability for Innovation and Design for X.T he Fraunhofer JLIDEAS is organized in 6 labs:
- COGITO, computer geometric modeling and simulation;
- IDEAinVR, interactive design and ergonomics applications in virtual reality;
- CREAMI, center of reverse engineering and additive manufacturing innovation;
- SQUARE, statistics, quality and reliability for innovation laboratory;
- ERGOS, ergonomics and sport;
- VIC, statistical evaluation and comfort indices.
The JL IDEAS is involved in national and international projects with big industries, SMEs and research institutions in France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, UK and Turkey.
