ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEMS

This area of research is related to electrical and electronic power systems, and addresses all the methodological issues regarding the design, analysis (in both transient and permanent regimes), production, testing and characterization of systems and components for the production, transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy.
The addressed research issues include security, automation, reliability, energy efficiency, diagnostics, planning and management of power systems, electromagnetic compatibility and quality of service, high voltage techniques.
Also fall within the scope of this area the issues related to energy distribution in liberalized markets.
Finally, research includes aspects regarding the industrial and civil applications of electrical power systems, e.g. in public transportation systems, vehicle electric systems, domotics and industrial automation.
