SYSTEMS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING

This research area is related to the definition of methods and technologies for information processing targeted to real-time automatic control of facilities, processes and dynamic systems in the broadest sense.
The applications of these methods and technologies encompass several areas of Engineering and Sciences. Systems and Control theory, in fact, abstracts from a specific application domain and creates a unified project methodology that gives artificial systems the ability to exhibit a programmed intelligent behavior that may adapt to changes of environmental and operational conditions.
Fall within the scope of this area the following topics:
- industrial manufacturing processes and operating machines,
- robotics and mechatronics,
- transport systems and networks,
- energy production and distribution systems,
- avionics systems,
- computer and communication networks,
- environmental, biological and biomedical systems.
