Topics: combustion and gassification of liquid fuels in fluidized and circulating bed; chemical absorption of acid gas on alkaline solid sorbents in fluidized bed; chemical looping; design of "beneficiation" of ashes at high unburned fuel level, design of solar aided reactors.

International key enabling technologies: heterogeneous reaction mechanism in combstion of carbon-based solid fuel and in absorption of acid gas on alkaline sorbents; dynamic of solid-gas suspension: phenomena of attrition, mixing/segregation of particles and mass transport. Research tools are the translation of physical phenomena into mathematical and fluidynamic models for understanding and predicting the design and operation of multiphase systems
