Agrochemical sciences

The Division carries out researches related to all relevant aspects of the soil-water-plant-atmosphere system. They can be referred to two main fields: agricultural chemistry and pedology. Specific research topics are the following:

  • Chemical and biochemical processes for sustainable agriculture;
  • Bioavailability of nutrients and  pollutants;
  • Biogeochemical processes controlling nutrient and pollutant mobility;
  • Interaction between biotic and abiotic soil components;
  • Soil fertility and fertilizers;
  • Recycling agricultural biomasses;
  • Pollutants monitoring and technologies for pollution reduction and rehabilitation;
  • Carbon cycle and capture/storage and greenhouse gas emission;
  • Quality and traceability of agrifood products;
  • Chemistry of natural compounds;
  • Pedology for land management;
  • Spatial decision support systems and digital soil mapping;
  • Soil forming processes and interaction between organic and mineral components;
  • Soil mineralogy.
