    Specific objectives

The Course aims to train professionals designers capable of managing the innovation of products and systems. able to support the strategic purpose of the project in all areas of design application and in emerging areas that express demand for advanced design skills, in industrial production, evolved crafts, interior, urban spaces and staging designfor the enhancement of Cultural Heritage.

The DBE Course is directed to train innovative and experimental profiles towards emerging fields like "strategic design" and "design services". Developing studies where there is hybridization of design skills with those managerial linked to production of new categories of products/services, such as the "Design Management" and the "engineering design".

The educational objectives are also aimed to acquiring knowledge about the physical context of production, user centered design of products. The purpose is to improve the qualitative aspects of design for environment, on products environmental requirements, on sustainable design strategies. The challenge is designing related to the product/service, market conditions, and to the relationship with the enterprise culture and with new production process.

The Course intends to meet a educational demand related to the fields of the design of living spaces and systems. Design components for the built environment, deepening the skills to read the contexts complexity, the production scenario innovation, the use conditions and market characteristics, combining them with the project activities and with phases coordination, from concept to distribution and communication. This requires an approach typical of design thinking that makes use of multiple knowledge (design, technical-scientific, communication, representation, aspects of use and fruition, historical-critical approach), considering social and ethical implications.

The key areas of the disciplines of the Course concern, in the first semester, the technological and environmental-design culture and spaces-design in relation to visual expression and graphic manner, insights related to the urban environment. During the second semester will be detailed technical and scientific aspects related to lighting, integrated structural design in relation to innovation in the field of materials for the project and the product, considering the role of interior design; the semester includes the study of furniture and design history.

The third semester, in the second year, explores the themes of industrial design and product innovation linked to industrial production processes and to the relationship with the strategic and operational marketing design-driven; experimental applications are encouraged with digital simulation and prototyping. The last semester provides insights on strategies and solutions for spaces staging of historic and monumental architecture, with an adequate period of time for thesis preparation and internship activities.
